ISO 2 New Roommates in Harbor Point
Hello! I’m looking for 2 new roommates to move into my apartment on July 1. The apartment is on the first floor of the house directly across the street from the ocean in the Harbor Point apartment complex- it’s a 5 minute walk from the 8 & 16... buses & the free UMass Boston campus shuttles, or a 15 minute walk from the JFK/UMASS redline station.
The first bedroom is 10 by 13 feet (pretty big) with a private bathroom attached, with two closets and a great view of the water across the street. The rent for this room is $1347 a month.
The second converted room is 10 by 9 feet, next to the kitchen, and the occupant would share the general bathroom with me. Since this room is on the small side and has no closets, the occupant would have their choice of one of two large closets in the hallway (one is longer and the other is deeper, essentially a walk in). The rent for this room is $910 a month.
There is currently one (friendly & super playful) cat in the house; more would be welcome provided they get along! No dogs. Both rooms come with a free parking spot right next to the house. Free bike parking is also available. I’m looking for people who don’t smoke/vape (I’m allergic to both nicotine and tobacco)- cannabis is totally fine as long as y’all don’t smoke inside the house. There is in-unit laundry (free, not coin-op). Large living room, and there’s even a little space to garden out front.
As part of the harbor point neighborhood (home of a million bunnies) you’d have access to 2 pools open in the summer and a gym; there’s also a small bodega down the street and 24/7 neighborhood security. The apartment is across the street from the Harbor Walk trail and near Carson Beach.
As for bills, we’re responsible for gas (currently around $130 monthly), electric (currently around $170 monthly, but my current roommates leave a lot of lights on so I’m hoping this will go down), and internet ($15 a month). Split three ways this would be in a rough range of $105ish a month, varying by season.
As previously mentioned this is a first floor unit- there is one step up at the front door, and one step up at the sliding glass door. I’m disabled myself (cane user/ part time wheelchair user) and especially interested in other disabled roommates, since housing this accessible is so hard to find in Boston!
A little bit about me: I’m Bella, 22, They/Them, leftist. I’m a queer polyamorous Agender Femme. Recent college graduate from UMass Boston and a preschool teacher. I’m also a stained glass artist and I bake for the house frequently. My cat Calliope is 1.5 years old and extremely affectionate! My current/ soon-to-be-previous roommates are my best friend and their partner, and we often go out together to places like Dyke Night/Manray and celebrate holidays together; I’d love a similar household dynamic where everyone is friends :)
In terms of other upfront costs beyond rent/ utilities, the complex would be charging $100 each to add you to the lease, but as far as I’m aware that would be it. Since this is an already established lease you’d be joining, the security deposit and all that was already dealt with years ago.
I’m happy to answer any questions and provide more pictures to interested applicants, and arrange a tour once there’s a good match! To start with I’m including some current pictures of each bedroom, as well as myself & my cat. Please don’t hesitate to reach out!! :)
